Luke Foster says Oxford United must not let their recent improvement count for little by losing to promotion-chasers at home again this weekend.
Cambridge climbed into second place in the Blue Square Premier with a smash-and-grab 2-1 victory over the U's on Tuesday night, and next up at the Kassam Stadium are sixth-placed Burton Albion.
Nigel Clough's team, who drew 0-0 at York on Tuesday, will be desperate for victory as they lie just four points off the play-off places.
Centre back Foster said: "We have made big improvements in recent weeks and I think we showed that against Cambridge.
"We can't think about losing a second successive game. Burton will be tough, but we're very capable of beating them."
And Foster will be hoping not to come up against another keeper in inspired form.
He says he still can't believe his header towards the top left corner during Oxford's second-half bombardment didn't find the net.
"On another day I'd expect that to go in," he said.
"Their keeper (Danny Potter) had a fantastic game, he kept them in it because we should have had at least a point.
"They did us on the break for the second goal, which was very unfortunate, especially being part of the defence that's been very tight lately. It's really, really frustrating.
"It was a silly first goal to give away as well. But other than that, I thought we were good on the night.
"We created a lot of chances and had good possession, especially first half, so we were really unlucky not to have got at least a draw."
