Witney's Elysia Ridley won the bronze medal in the under 23 age group at the Welsh Cross Country Championships in Singleton Park, Swansea.
Ridley (pictured), who finished seventh overall, was then handed a call-up for the Welsh under 23 squad for an international race in Edinburgh at the end of March.
She said: "I had a really good race and felt strong throughout, even though the course was nothing but mud and hills for the entire seven kilometres.
"My parents came all the way over to support me, which was great as they hadn't seen me race since last year."
Ridley, who now runs for Swansea University, has also been competing in the Gwent Cross Country League.
She completed all five races in the top four to finish second overall in the league.
- OXFORD City's Hannah England formed part of the Florida State quartet to set a distance medley relay record at the ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
England teamed up with Kandia Batchelor, Lydia Willemse and Susan Kuijken to clock a time of 11mins 11.03secs, beating the previous record by 13 seconds.
