Winchester City 0
Oxford City 1 (Romeo 9)
Oxford City moved up to third in Division 1 South & West when an early goal from Ashwa Romeo gave them the points at Winchester.
Errol Telemaque had already gone close for City before Romeo struck in the ninth minute.
Mark Bell sped past several defenders before finding Romeo, who turned neatly to find the far corner of the goal with his well-paced shot.
For the home side, Stuart Hussey went close following a corner , but both sides had troble controling the ball in the gusty conditions.
Hussey put in another decent effort for Gosport early in the second half. But their expected pressure, with the wind now at their backs, did not materialise.
A worrying moment for City came when Mark Avery's header back failed to reach keeper Steve Smith. But Gosport's Richard Gregory missed the target from close range.
Few chances were created, as City combatted the wind by keeping the ball on tyhe ground as much as possible.
These tactics were to prove successful.
Oxford City: Smith, Saulsbury, Woodruffe, Gunn, Pond, Avery, Telmaque (Redknap 87), Malone, Romeo (Jones 72), Lyon, Bell (Davis 72). Referee: T Robinson (Bognor Regis).
