Last Sunday saw me over at Farmoor Flyfishing Club's Darlow Lake on a working party, writes ANDY WEBBER.

Several members were there and we were all given jobs to do - raking up leaves, cutting back branches and burning all the rubbish.

It was nice to get out and meet up with other members and have a chat about the club and other aspects of fishing.

It was also good to get involved and try and put something back into the club, and it made me realise that so much is done behind the scenes.

I am going again tomorrow morning for a couple of hours.

As I was driving over to Darlow, I went past the Richworth Linear complex and noticed the number of bivvies that were up around the lakes.

It seems as popular as ever and as the weather starts to warm up the carp will begin feeding again.

Among the latest captures is a 36lb common caught from Hardwick Lake by Thame carper Jonny Walker.

Incidentally, pike fishing at Linear finishes today and starts again on October 1.

  • LEIGHTON Buzzard father and son Chris and Tim Elliott, aged nine, spent a couple of nights over at Linch Hill trying for the big roach and rudd.

Using three rods with double hook rigs, plus feeder and maggot, they took it in turns to strike at the bites. And there were plenty of them!

In all, they caught 14 giant redfins, the best roach of 3.8.0 falling to Chris, but young Tim was not to be outdone and he had roach of 2.10.0, 2.12.0 and 2.14.0.

Chris also land roach weighing 3.0.0, 2.15.0, 2.14.0, 2.12.0 2.8.0 and 2.3.0.

Not a bad way of spending your half-term school holiday!
