Abingdon United put in an improved display but couldn't prevent a ninth successive defeat on the road on Tuesday as AFC Hayes took all three BGB Southern League Division 1 South & West points with a 2-0 win The visitors had the better of the first half with Wayne Holden denied in a one-on-one with keeper Simeon Charles, and Jamie Brooks also going close.
Abingdon had a strong penalty appeal turned down early in the second half, but suffered a cruel blow on 55 minutes when they went 1-0 down.
Keeper Lee Farrow and James Organ collided and the ball flew into the net off Dean Clark.
Ten minutes later, Trevor Charlerey sprinted clear to notch goal No 2 for Hayes.
