Darren Patterson is hoping Craig McAllister and Barry Quinn have recovered from illness, which has kept them off training at different times, to play in Oxford United's friendly at Witney United on Tuesday night (7.30).
"We're really hoping Craig's OK, because the game was fixed up partly for his benefit," said the U's boss.
"We've got so many new faces, it's important to get as many games as possible to build up understanding, and to maintain our match fitness and sharpness after not having a game last weekend."
United will field a strong team against Witney, although most of the first-team players will probably play for around an hour only.
Their next Blue Square Premier game is this Saturday at Forest Green Rovers.
One partnership Patterson may be especially eager to see in competitive action is McAllister and Justin Richards, who played together at Woking.
LES Phillips, one of Oxford United's 1986 Milk Cup heroes, is back helping out the club as a scout.
