Oxford Hawks suffered a surprising 3-2 defeat away to lowly Reading 1A in South Clubs Women's League Division 1, the first time they have lost to their Berkshire rivals for many years.
Reading had a slightly stronger squad than usual as their first team were withouta fixture.
Hawks dominated early on and Alex Baird skilfully flicked the ball over a defender's stick for Hannah Williamson to slap over the line.
Hawks then seemed to step down a gear and let Reading come more into the game.
Reading converted a short corner.
In the second half they slotted away a disputed penalty flick - and scored again with a tip-in from a straight strike past goalkeeper Evelyn Hargraves.
Hawks pulled one back in the dying minutes with Fi Walton tapping in Amy Bryant's short corner strike.
In Division 2, Oxford University drew 4-4 at Wimbledon 1A.
Banbury earned a 1-1 draw at Southgate 2nd in Division 3A.
Vicky Page pounced on a rebound after Rachel Craggs's shot had been saved, to put Banbury ahead.
Southgate saw much more of ball in the second half and eventually got a goal from a short corner.
Banbury, who were lucky to hold on for a draw in the end, now need to take nine points from their last three games to have a chance of second place.
West Witney went down 2-1 at West Hampstead.
