Andover 3 (Elias 44, Davies 49, K Swayne 56 pen)

Abingdon Utd 1 (Taylor 86)

Abingdon United's woeful away form continued when they were convincingly beaten by a side below them in Division 1 South & West, who had not won in 11 games.

This was Abingdon's eighth successive defeat on the road, and the margin would have been by more than doubled if it had not been for some excellent saves from goalkeeper Lee Farrow.

For the first ten minutes, the visitors were actually on top and Ben Weedon blasted over a good chance.

Farrow ten made three fine saves in the first half, the best of them to deflect a piledriver from Tas Roberts.

Just before half-time, Andover took the lead when a free-kick on the left was flighted deep into the area and Owen Elias connected powerfully to send the ball into the net.

In the 49th minute, Abingdon went 2-0 down when Matt Davies flicked on a free-kick past Farrow.

Matt Taylor had a strong penalty appeal turned down following a foul. The ball went down the other end where Adam Heath was brought down in the box by Nathan Woodley.

This time a penalty was awarded, and Kyle Swayne sent Farrow the wrong way to put Andover out of sight.

Abingdon made several substitutions, but Andover continued to pose problems, with Farrow saving well from sub Bobby Swayne and Roberts.

Abingdon had a good last ten minutes, with Micheas Herbert's scorching drive towards the top corner bringing a tremendous save from the home keeper.

With time running out, the visitors got some consolation when Jamie Brooks played the ball into the danger area and Taylor swept the ball home from four yards.
