KARL Robinson confirmed Oxford United are still in the market for a full back as transfer deadline day draws closer.
The U’s have little cover behind Sam Long and Steve Seddon, with versatile defender Ciaron Brown and centre back James Golding deputising on the flanks so far this season.
The need for wide players has increased following injuries to wingers Yanic Wildschut, Josh Murphy and Marcus Browne, which saw Robinson change to a 4-4-2 diamond against Morecambe yesterday.
Asked if the new system makes it more important that United recruit at full back, Robinson said: “Yes, it is.
“You’ve got Browny who can play there (at left back), so that’s not a position we’re overly worried about.
“On the right-hand side, we have no cover.”
The U’s were this week linked with 19-year-old West Bromwich Albion right back Ethan Ingram, who is reportedly available for a loan move away from the Sky Bet Championship club.
The transfer window closes at 11pm on Thursday, September 1, giving United 11 days to complete their summer business.
WATCH: Highlights of yesterday's game
The U’s have a growing injury list with Wildschut, Murphy, Browne and Sam Baldock all sidelined.
Elliott Moore missed the Morecambe clash due to a thigh issue, while James Henry and Marcus McGuane picked up knocks late in the game.
Robinson spoke in the week about being 'creative' with the players he has available and appeared to reiterate that stance before the 1-1 draw.
He said: “I’ve spoken to the board this week and said 'let’s just be as creative as we possibly can'.
“It’s not all about spending money, probably about a third of our budget is spent on players who aren’t fit.”
United could not find a winner against Morecambe despite registering 27 shots to the visitors’ three, with most coming in the second half.

It is the third home game in a row that the U’s have been much better after the break and they are yet to score a first-half goal this season.
Asked why that is the case, Robinson said: “Territorially, we were good.
“I have my reasons and I’ll keep that to myself, but I think the players certainly give the same amount of effort – the data will tell you that.
“The way games play out, the more fatigue kicks in and the more space appears so naturally more chances happen.
“I’m really pleased with the players’ output in the first and second half.”
