XANDER Wardlaw is aiming to make an impact in the UK after travelling from Down Under to join Oxford City Stars.
The forward arrives from Australian Ice Hockey League side Sydney Bears for his first season in this country.
Wardlaw scored five goals in 17 appearances for the top-flight club last season and has represented his country at Under 20 level.
The 22-year-old said: “I can’t wait to get the season started at Oxford and to see what the city has to offer.
“I’ve been looking to take my game outside of Australia and Oxford has given me the right opportunity to showcase my game.
“I’m looking forward to being able to contribute offensively and I’m looking forward to meeting up with my new teammates.”
Wardlaw has been a regular source of goals during his early career, scoring 25 times in 29 games in two seasons with Penrith Raptors.
He then added another 13 in 15 appearances for Sydney Wolf Pack.
Head of hockey operations Shane Moore said: ”Xander is a great young player who's looking for his first step in British Hockey.
“He's keen to make an impact and I think we are lucky to be able to bring him here to Oxford.
“I’ve heard great things about his game and him personally, and I think he will fit right in with the club culture and team we are looking to ice this coming season.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how he adapts to the NIHL 1 and what he can do in the yellow jersey.”
