TWO goals from Leah Burridge helped Oxford United Women to a 3-0 win over Hashtag United in their final pre-season friendly.
Sarah King also scored as the U’s ended the summer programme on a high ahead of Sunday’s FA Women’s National League Southern Premier opener against Bridgwater United.
Both teams had early chances at the RAW Charging Stadium, with Rose Kite saving from Brooke Cairns and Carly Johns stabbing an effort just wide after being released by Lauren Haynes.
United opened the scoring 12 minutes before half-time as King sent a free-kick into the penalty area and Burridge lofted a half-volley over the goalkeeper.
The U’s went in 2-0 up at the break with a fine counter-attacking goal. Johns raced up the pitch after the hosts cleared a Hashtag free-kick and found King, who took a touch and fired high into the net.
Liam Gilbert made several changes during the second half but United did not let up and scored their third with a quarter of an hour remaining.
It was another classy finish from Burridge, who found the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
The summer signing will hope to bring that form into the clash with former club Bridgwater as United start the season at home this coming weekend.
