Farnborough 2 (Gunn og 65, Oliver 81))
Oxford City 0
Oxford City's Division 1 South & West promotion bid continues to stutter as they lost they second game of the week against fellow contenders.
As in their 1-0 defeat by Didcot seven days earlier, City paid the penalty for missed early chances.
First, Ashwa Romeo's effort was snuffed out. Then new striker Michael Lyon, signed from Bedford only the previous day, broke clear.
However, unlike other recent signings Romeo and Errol Telemaque, he was unable to mark his debut with a goal, shooting wide.
Lyon still impressed, however, with an industrious display.
At the other end, Steve Davis denied Farnborough with a good header, while Rob Saunders struck a post.
The visitors broke the deadlock when City defender Andy Gunn put the ball into his own net following a strong challenge from Michael Bartley, Farnborough's recent acquisition from Didcot.
The match was settled when Ian Oliver's centre from the left surprised everyone, including himself, by sailing into the roof the net.
Oxford City: Smith, Redknap, Davis, Gunn, Pond, Avery, Telemaque, Malone, Romeo (Jones 66), Lyon, Bell (Janes 84). Subs not used: Meade, Merritt.
Attendance: 851
-Oxford City have been drawn away to either Hook Norton or Banbury in the semi-finals of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup, while North Leigh must visit Kidlington or Old Woodstock.
