Oxford & District's John and Mike Philpott broke the stranglehold of clubmates Chris and Glenn Allen on the Oxon & Bucks area father and son pairs crown.

The Philpotts ended the Allens' domination of the event in recent years with a 19-12 victory in the final.

Now they go on to represent the area in the national finals at Northampton next week.

In the area singles semi-finals, Carterton's Andy Wise beat Howard Watts (Oxford & District) 21-12, while Banbury's Mark Sykes overcame Tim Godman (Foxhill, Aylesbury) 21-13.

The final is at Oxford City & County on Friday, February 22 (6.15pm).

Wise is chasing glory on three fronts, being a member of the Carterton sides who have reached the triples and fours finals.

In the triples semi-finals, he teamed up Pete Maisey and Robbie Clanfield to beat Oxford & District's Steve O'Keefe, Norman Rae, Paul Comley 27-13.

The Carterton trio now face Oxford & District's Nick Welsh, Howard Watts, Chris Allen, who defeated Foxhill's Chris Fletcher, Derek Plater and Steve Mead 19-12.

A venue and date for the final have yet to be arranged.

In the fours semi-finals, Wise, Stuart Richens, Clanfield and Baden Sparkes edged past clubmates Jon Hicks, Chris Weedon, George Weedon and Andy McIyntre 18-16.

Oxford & District again provide their final opponents after reigning champions Dale Hall, Welsh, Watts and Chris Allen crushed Foxhill's Godman, Rhyse Lee, Mead and David Harding 24-8.

The final is at Oxford City & County on Saturday, February 23 (10am).

Welsh, Watts and Chris Allen also feature in three finals.

Welsh and Hall beat Godman and Mead (Foxhill) 21-11 in the pairs semi-finals, while Watts and Chris Allen held off Banbury's Keith Holloway and Sykes 17-14.

A date for the final has yet to be arranged.
