Nathan Douglas came a creditable second on his season reappearance in the World Indoor trials in Sheffield yesterday.
The Oxford triple jumper recorded 16.72m, but was unable to get close to Phillips Idowu.
The European Indoor champion won with his first effort of 17.24m as he maintained the form he showed when he produced his best season-opener with a jump of 17.06 last month.
His second effort produced a distance of 17.08 but he failed to register after that, with two no jumps and two passes.
Meanwhile, Dwain Chambers insisted he was not trying to "create any nightmares" for UK Athletics despite potentially doing just that by winning the 60m.
Chambers won in 6.56secs and should secure an automatic berth for the World Indoor Championships in Valencia next month when the first wave of selections are announced tomorrow.
UKA had already attempted to ban the athlete - who served a two-year suspension after testing positive for THG in August 2003 - from competing as they claimed he had retired to take up a career in American football.
