Didcot Town boss Stuart Peace says his side's 1-0 victory over Oxford City in Saturday's derby has opened up the race for promotion from Division 1 South & West.
"I said to my lads before the game that if we lose today then we will just have the play-offs to go for, but if we win then it opens it all up," said Peace.
"It was a very close game. I thought they finished the first half on top, but once we got the goal we had something to hang onto.
"We could have won it by more if Jack King had finished his chance.I thought our two centre backs, Andy Williams and Andy Parrott were awesome.
"I think we just about deserved to win. They are a good side and you have to ride your luck.
"But it's no good winning here and then losing your next. It has given us a springboard for the rest of the season."
City assistant manager Mike Ford, who took charge in the absence of boss Justin Merritt who was on a business trip to Japan, said it was vital they bounced back from the defeat.
"It was just one of those games. We could have gone in at half-time 2-0 up," said Ford, whose side visit high-fliers Farnborough next week.
"But they took the chances that came their way and we didn't.
"To go to Farnborough is a great way of picking ourselves up."
