Commonwealth Games gold medallist Alex Scotcher was the main guest at City of Oxford's awards lunch, which marked achievements at the 2007 club championships. The excellent results at the championships have generated many qualifying times for the Oxon and North Bucks Championships, which begin in two weeks time.

Scotcher gave an inspiring talk on what it takes to become an international swimmer, showing footage of him winning gold medal in the 4 x 200 freestyle relay at Melbourne in 2006.

He then handed out awards to the club age-group winners, while coaches awards were presented to Ben Chapman, Hannah Vine, Thomas Ruddell, Lucy Smith, James Broughton, Lucy Gaen and Lily Heron.

Head coach Lindsay Powell presented T-shirts to the club captains David Norridge and Laura Sherwood.During the ceremony, Alex Scotcher congratulated the Club and its friends on raising £3700 for Children in Need from a sponsored Distance Swim.
