OXFORD Cheetahs got their Jubilee League campaign off to the best possible start when they defeated Birmingham Brummies by 56-34 at Sandy Lane last night.
The circuit held up remarkably well on a very hot evening, while there was a quick shower just before the meeting started.
Cheetahs registered back-to-back 5-1s in Heats 2 and 3, and after seven races it was almost over as a contest at 29-13.
Troy Batchelor returned to form and only dropped points in Heat 15 when he finished third to Cheetahs’ skipper Scott Nicholls and Brummies’ impressive guest Tom Brennan.

Jordan Jenkins put in a terrific performance at No 7 for Cheetahs, scoring 8+1, and he will be hoping to show the same form when he captains Oxford Chargers against leaders Leicester Lion Cubs in the National League tonight.
The Chargers are unbeaten at home this season having posted 50-39 victories over Berwick Bullets and Plymouth Centurions respectively.
Meanwhile, Cheetahs are away at Birmingham tonight and will be hoping to complete a quick double.
Nicholls said: “It was a good team performance and we need to keep it going and win at Birmingham as well.”
