AN excellent second round could not save Eddie Pepperell from missing the cut at the BMW International Open.
The Frilford Heath member carded a five-under par 67 on day two at Golfclub Munchen Eichenried, Munich, leaving him two-under for the tournament.
A three-over par opening round - and especially a horror 16th hole - proved Pepperell’s downfall as he missed out by two shots.
The Abingdon golfer reached the 16th going well at one-under, but it all went wrong.
He twice found the water on the way to dropping four shots on the par-four hole, setting him back considerably.
Pepperell negotiated the 16th with little fuss the next day, picking up three birdies either side of the turn and a bogey at the third.
But the 31-year-old failed to make the weekend and will now set his sights on the Horizon Irish Open, which starts on Thursday.
