OXFORD United will begin the season away for the sixth consecutive year as the U’s travel to Derby County, newly relegated from the second tier.
Wayne Rooney’s side will host United on July 30, with the fixture the first between the two sides in Sky Bet League One.
The U’s face Cambridge in their first home game, on August 6, and are away on Boxing Day for the first time since 2017, with Karl Robinson’s side set to travel to Ipswich Town.
United will finish the season at home to Accrington Stanley on May 6.
The last game between the U’s and Derby was in 1994, and continues United’s run of away games on the opening day.
Not since a 1-1 draw at home to Chesterfield in the 2016/17 season have the U’s started the campaign at home.
There has since been a 2-0 win at Oldham Athletic in 2017, defeats to Barnsley (4-0 in 2018) and Lincoln City (2-0 in 2020), plus 1-1 draws with Sunderland (2019) and Cambridge United (2021).
The U’s are at home on New Year’s Day when they will welcome Exeter City.
October and April look arguably the toughest run of fixtures for the U’s with home games against Wycombe Wanderers (October 8) and Peterborough United (October 22), plus trips to Charlton Athletic (October 1), Exeter City (October 15), Portsmouth (October 25) and Bolton Wanderers (October 29).
April begins away at Peterborough (April 1), before welcoming Sheffield Wednesday to the Kassam Stadium on Good Friday (April 7).
United will then travel to Port Vale on Easter Monday (April 10), before facing Bolton and Portsmouth at home (April 15 and 18 respectively). The month is rounded off with trips to Barnsley and Forest Green Rovers (April 22 and 29).
