Michael Blackwood marked his first appearance in an Oxford United shirt with a goal in their friendly draw at Abingdon United.
The left winger, on loan from Kidderminster until the end of the season, scored with 16 minutes left to save a full-strength Oxford from an embarrassing defeat.
More than 500 people turned up to watch a game played to raise money for Michael Alexis, the Abingdon midfielder, formerly with Oxford, who suffered an horrific broken leg last month.
And no-one could moan at the entertainment, with the U's first team - Billy Turley aside - matched throughout by a battling Abingdon.
Oxford created several clear openings in the first half, with Phil Trainer, twice, Blackwood and Justin Richards all failing to convert from good positions.
Abingdon went close through a Nathan Woodley header, but the main action came after the break.
After 17-year-old substitute goalkeeper Adam Lonsdale had denied Yemi Odubade, the hosts went ahead on the hour when a Billy Beechers pass found the classy Ryan Curtin, who skipped past Matt Day and beat Sam Warrell.
Odubade was again thwarted by Lonsdale, as Oxford's fitness started to tell.
The equaliser came from a Day corner in the 74th minute. The ball found its way to Blackwood, at the far post who drilled home a left-foot effort just inside the far post.
