ALICE Powell finished on the podium at the Spanish Grand Prix.

The Chipping Norton driver claimed third in Barcelona, as the W Series season continues to take shape.

Jamie Chadwick has won all three races so far, with Powell third in the driver standings.

Powell, who was runner-up to Chadwick last season, took the 11th podium finish of her W Series career.

She said: “I knew it was going to be about saving tyres. A couple of times I got closer to Abbi [Pulling] but it wasn’t working out so I dropped back a little bit and went again, but as soon as you get close it gets tougher.

“I had a brake issue in qualifying which was disappointing and it carried on when I kept locking up, but it’s still solid points and we move on to the next race at Silverstone.”
