OXFORD United’s managing director is targeting a record number of season ticket sales for 2022/23.

The club yesterday opened the renewal window for next term after a campaign where the average league attendance at the Kassam Stadium reached an all-time high of 8,463.

United’s existing season-ticket holders have until 3pm on Monday, June 6 to book their seats, with general sale launching the following day.

It is almost three months until the new campaign kicks-off and U’s MD Niall McWilliams wants the club to hit the ground running.

“Our aim next season is to get a record number of season tickets. That’s our ambition and we’re determined to make that,” he said.

“This year we got just under 4,600, so I’d be very disappointed if we don’t get over 5,000.

“In an ideal world I’d like it to be 5,500.

"I think that reflects the entertainment we have and the brand of football that we play.

"It also reflects how much we value our community, and we’ve got to continue to be right in the centre of the community.

"You’ll not get better entertainment for your money whatever you choose on a Saturday afternoon or a Tuesday evening."

United sold approximately 5,500 season tickets in 2016/17, their first campaign back in Sky Bet League One for 15 years.

That number has since dipped despite the U's challenging at the top of the third tier, although coronavirus restrictions stopped the Kassam Stadium hosting capacity crowds between February 2020 and August 2021.
