OXFORD United’s out-of-contract players are into the final three months of their deals.

Before too long, we will know who has been offered fresh terms and who will leave the club before the start of next season.

Following last summer's transfer window, we rounded-up the 13 U's players in the final year of their contracts.

That number has fallen to 11 following Dan Agyei's move to Crewe Alexandra in January, while Anthony Forde and Tyler Goodrham agreed new deals to keep them at the club. Meanwhile, Sam Baldock arrived after the winter transfer window.

Here is an updated list of the players whose contracts expire this summer.

SAM BALDOCK

The forward signed as a free agent in February, with United agreeing a deal until the end of the season.

Baldock sustained a knee injury less than a month after his debut, but he certainly made a big impression in a short time.

The 33-year-old scored four times in seven matches, building an immediate understanding with Matty Taylor at the top of a dangerous 3-4-1-2 formation.

Baldock’s absence is a key reason behind United’s faltering play-off charge and Karl Robinson has said as much in recent weeks.

BILLY BODIN

The forward only signed a one-year deal following his release by Preston North End last summer.

Bodin (below) has shown his undoubted quality in flashes and would surely have played more than 21 games if injuries had not disrupted his campaign.

Eight of the 30-year-old’s last ten appearances have been starts, which shows what Robinson thinks of him.

Oxford Mail:

LEON CHAMBERS-PARILLON

United have the option to extend the midfielder’s deal by an extra 12 months, with his initial one-year contract expiring this summer.

After starting three cup games for the U’s in August, Chambers-Parillon was sent on loan to Vanarama National League South sides Havant & Waterlooville and now Slough Town.

There is reportedly scope to extend his deal with the Berkshire outfit into next season, although whether that is a loan or a permanent move is unclear.

MICHAEL ELECHI

The left back started at Cambridge United in the Papa John’s Trophy in August and has played in several behind-closed-doors games, as well as last month’s Oxfordshire Senior Cup semi-final against Thame United.

Elechi has spent time on loan at National League South side Chippenham Town and Salisbury, who compete a level below in Pitching In Southern League Premier South.

United triggered the option in the 20-year-old’s contract last summer.

ALEX GORRIN

The Spanish midfielder was ruled out for the season when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament against Bristol Rovers on November 7.

It came a week after the 28-year-old brought up 100 appearances for the club.

Robinson said back in December that United would offer Gorrin a new deal, adding: “I want other players to know that if you put your body on the line we’ll look after you.”

Oxford Mail:

JAMIE HANSON

The 26-year-old (above) is another long-term absentee after sustaining a hamstring injury in a behind closed doors friendly in January.

It sums up Hanson’s U’s career, with the midfielder making just 86 appearances since he arrived in summer 2018.

That four-year deal expires this summer, with the former Derby County man playing only four matches this season.

JAMES HENRY

It has been a season of two halves for the midfielder, who passed 200 games and 50 goals in the first three months of the campaign.

But injuries have restricted Henry to just five substitute appearances since mid-December.

Robinson today confirmed the U’s have the option to extend the 32-year-old’s contract by one year and paid tribute to his service.

ELLIOTT MOORE

It was not common knowledge until February, but United can retain the centre back's services beyond the expiry of his existing deal this summer.

Robinson revealed that the U’s can trigger an option that would keep Moore at the club for another 12 months, adding: “I’m sure you know as well as I do that we’ll be taking that option.”

The centre back has been in and out of the team this season due to injury and illness, but has made 32 appearances and scored his first goal of the campaign against Sunderland on Saturday.

SLAVI SPASOV

The 20-year-old forward has fallen off the radar since becoming United’s youngest scorer in September 2018.

Injuries curtailed his loan at Vanarama National League side Woking last season, although the U’s still triggered the option in his contract.

Spasov is currently on loan at North Leigh in Pitching In Southern League Division 1 Central.

Oxford Mail:

MARK SYKES

The midfielder (above) has enjoyed his best season with United, scoring eight goals in 42 appearances and excelling in a range of positions.

Sykes’ form has been noticed further afield, with Sky Bet League One leaders Wigan Athletic submitting a deadline-day bid and the Republic of Ireland handing him his first senior call-up last month.

The 24-year-old has twice spoken about his contract situation, most recently in March.

He said: “Come the end of the season we’ll see where we end up, but at the minute I want to do the best I can for this club.”

SAM WINNALL

United have the option to extend the two-year deal they agreed with the striker back in September 2020.

Highlights have been few and far between for Winnall since he joined, with a memorable winner against Sheffield Wednesday in January his only goal this season.

The striker has made 22 appearances this season, but only four of those were starts.
