OXFORD United have switched up their schedule as they cope with a gruelling week on the road.
Two of their longest away journeys of the season fall in the space of four days, with Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Plymouth Argyle followed by tomorrow’s rearranged game at Morecambe.
The U’s will have racked up well over 800 miles in less than a week by the time they arrive back in Oxfordshire in the early hours of Wednesday.
United usually travel on Monday afternoon ahead of a midweek away game, but instead set off for the north west this morning to reduce the impact of the two trips.
Head coach Karl Robinson said: “We’re changing how we travel.
“We’re going to train up north on Monday and try to break the journey up that way.
“We’ll come back and stay at the Bicester Hotel on Tuesday night. We’ll recover on Wednesday in Bicester and train as normal Thursday and Friday.”

It remains to be seen whether United will have Elliott Moore and Cameron Brannagan back after both players missed the Plymouth game.
The centre back was laid low by illness, while Brannagan sustained a head injury in what Robinson described as a ‘freak’ collision with Luke McNally in training.
If both miss out, the U’s will likely have the same squad available as they did against Plymouth as they attempt to climb back into the Sky Bet League One play-off places.
But Robinson insists his players have the resilience to rise above the quick turnaround.
He said: “Your body gives up 20 per cent before your mind does, but your body’s got so much more than your mind.
“If you trust in your body and have the belief that we have you can go a long, long way.
“The reason why we’re ultra-competitive week-in, week-out and season-in, season-out is because we believe in the structure and doing things right.”
