IT is four years to the day since Karl Robinson took charge at Oxford United.
Robinson left Charlton Athletic by mutual consent in the morning and joined the U’s the same afternoon, ending the club’s 59-day search for a replacement for Pep Clotet.
We take a look at the key matches from Robinson’s time in charge so far.
The key games
March 2019: Oxford United 1 Bradford City 0
Jamie Mackie came off the bench to score a dramatic injury time winner as the U’s moved out of the relegation zone.
The visitors looked certain to steal the points, but Lewis O’Brien missed a sitter from five yards out, and United went up the other end as Mackie hammered home a winner from the right edge of the six-yard box.
But just when the hosts were celebrating, controversy ensued as Bradford felt they should have had a corner following O’Brien’s miss and argued United’s goal kick had been illegally taken.
However, after much discussion with his assistants, nothing was given in the visitors’ favour and United’s goal stood.
September 2019: Lincoln City 0 Oxford United 6
Tariqe Fosu hit a hat-trick as United stormed to a record away win in the Football League.
Fosu’s clinical double put United in control before half-time, before Mackie’s improvised finish and James Henry’s volley made the points safe.
Fosu completed his hat-trick with an unstoppable 30-yard strike, before Matty Taylor grabbed a late sixth goal.
March 2020: Shrewsbury Town 2 Oxford United 3
Josh Ruffels headed a late winner as United staged a sensational comeback to beat ten-man Shrewsbury.
The U’s went 2-0 down within 34 minutes to goals from Daniel Udoh and Callum Lang, before a red card to Shrewsbury’s Josh Vela let the visitors back into contention.
Marcus Browne stole in to score just before the break, with Dan Agyei, on as a substitute moments earlier, curling a stunning effort into the far corner to draw United level just before the hour.
Browne’s teasing cross was emphatically headed home by Ruffels two minutes from time to send the U’s third in Sky Bet League One.
November 2020: Oxford United 1 Swindon Town 2
Swindon struck twice late on to claim their first win over United in 19 years.
Tom Broadbent scored the Wiltshire side’s first ever goal at the Kassam Stadium with six minutes remaining to level the scrappy derby.
The game looked like it was meandering towards a draw, but Tyler Smith bagged the winner in the final minute to break United’s run of eight games unbeaten against their rivals.
Taylor had scored the derby goal he craved 15 minutes in, chipping deftly home from Liam Kelly’s pass to open the scoring.
January 2022: Gillingham 2 Oxford United 7
Cameron Brannagan scored his first career hat-trick in implausible fashion as he struck four penalties in United’s 7-2 win at hapless Gillingham.
The U’s No 8 sent Pontus Dahlberg the wrong way early in the first half and three times after the break.
United had never scored seven away from home in the Football League, as Billy Bodin, Taylor and Anthony Forde also found the scoresheet for the U’s.
February 2022: Oxford United 3 Portsmouth 2
Nathan Holland’s stoppage time strike earned United a dramatic win over ten-man Portsmouth on a thrilling afternoon.
The winger fired in off the post in the 96th minute to decide a lively contest that included a 30-minute half-time break.
Two goals in the first ten minutes set the tone, Luke McNally heading home his second of the season before Michael Jacobs equalised following a slick move.
Joe Morrell was then sent off for a high challenge on Brannagan and the U’s dominated possession from then on, only for Ronan Curtis to give the visitors a shock lead early in the second half.
Pompey looked set to hold on for an improbable victory, only for Brannagan to fire into the far corner from 20 yards, eight minutes from time.
The fourth official signalled 10 minutes of stoppage time and United poured forward in search of a winner, with Holland sealing victory from 20 yards.
