OXFORD United have a goalscoring record in their sights in the final eight games of the Sky Bet League One campaign.
Karl Robinson’s free-flowing team have been in prolific form this season, finding the net 73 times – comfortably the highest in the division.
United have scored an average of 1.9 goals per game and maintaining that rate would see them end the 46-match season on 88.

That would be the club’s second-highest league goals total in a season since they joined the Football League in 1962, just three behind Jim Smith’s all-conquering 1983/84 side.
The U’s scored 91 times as they won the Division Three title by eight points, while they plundered a further 26 in their runs to the fifth round of the FA Cup and League Cup.
As it stands, United have already racked up the club’s seventh-highest goals tally in a single campaign since 1962.
It will come as no surprise that the U’s gained promotion in five of their six most prolific seasons, with last term the only outlier as they fell in the play-off semi-finals.
In second place sits 1964/65, when United scored 87 goals. It was only enough for fourth place in the old Division Four, but they did claim the final promotion spot.
Two more memorable campaigns complete the podium – although one stands out above the other.
United scored 84 times on their way to the Division Two title in 1984/85. It is the only time they have ended the season with an average of two goals per game, having played 42 matches.

The U’s also hit 84 when they finished second in Sky Bet League Two six years ago.
Michael Appleton's men also reached the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup and the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final that season, scoring 107 goals in all competitions.
Next comes 2020/21, when United were on target 77 times as they finished sixth in League One. They added another three goals in the play-off semi-final defeat to Blackpool.
That season sits just ahead of 1995/96, when the U’s secured second place in Division Two with a 4-0 win over Peterborough United on the final day.
Those goals moved them to 76 for the campaign.
