ELLIOTT Moore could miss a significant chunk of Oxford United’s run-in, according to Karl Robinson.

The centre back sustained an ankle injury at Crewe Alexandra last Tuesday and missed the weekend win over Cambridge United.

The U’s travel to Portsmouth tonight to begin the final two months of the Sky Bet League One season as Robinson revealed he will be without his captain for the foreseeable future.

United’s head coach said: “It’s minimum four weeks, we think, but we’re still waiting for a clear reading.

“It can be anything from six to eight weeks as well, so it could be a lot longer.

“It sounds like a long period of time, but you just don’t know how these things react.

“It’ll be more based on his ability to recover in the right way.

“We know he’ll get all the best treatment here and we’ll do everything we possibly can to turn him around for the real back end of the season.

“It’s a big loss to us, he’s our captain.”

Although Moore is out, fellow defender Ciaron Brown should be fit to start tonight after he was an unused substitute against Cambridge following an arm infection.

Robinson hopes Billy Bodin could be available for the trip to Shrewsbury Town on March 12 as the forward nears a return from injury.
