OXFORDSHIRE’S over 60s side finished runners-up in Division 1 following four matches in Derby.
After a defeat to Durham, they beat Cheshire 9-1 and Yorkshire 7-3 to go into the final game against Lincolnshire needing a draw to secure second place.
Karl Bushell won both his men’s singles, and victories by Neil Hurford and Chris Lansley against higher-ranked players put them within touching distance of a draw.
Janet Brown recovered from losing her ladies’ singles, to partner with Bushell and win the mixed doubles, to secure the draw.
Kidlington A’s team won the Oxford League in an unbeaten campaign. Elson Costa finished unbeaten and Bushell won the Warner Cup for the 27th time.
