JORDAN Flynn made it four wins from four professional bouts as he seeks half a dozen more fights before the end of the year.
The Cowley boxer beat Marian Marius Istrate, from Romania, on points in a six-round bout.
The fight, at London’s iconic York Hall, saw Flynn return to a venue which has brought him good memories in the past, beating Jamie Quinn in September 2020.
Flynn’s latest victory saw him learn some invaluable lessons.
He told the Oxford Mail: “It was a tough opponent, and it was good to get the rounds in.
“In the sixth round, I thought I would get the knockout. If I had an extra minute, it might’ve happened.
“I 100 per cent deserved the win, I got hit with a few shots which I could’ve avoided though.
“I spar at a high level, so you can switch off, but I learnt a lot from the fight.
“I learnt you have to be switched on, as in that split second, you can get caught with a shot.”

Flynn had been hard at work since beating Lee Connelly on points in October, training alongside WBA continental welterweight champion Conor Benn and Commonwealth lightweight title holder Joe Cordina.
During his latest camp, Flynn would spar for eight rounds of four minutes each, with just 30 seconds rest in-between.
That intensity stood Flynn in good stead for the fight at York Hall.
“My fitness was very good and I’d trained so hard in the gym, so six three-minute rounds felt comfortable,” he said.
“Each round I felt I was getting stronger and better, I really started to get into him in the sixth round.”

Flynn will now be taking a week out from training, before preparing himself for his next fight in April, which he hopes will be the next in as many as six fights before the end of 2022.
“I’ll be taking a week off training then it’ll be straight back in the gym, to get myself ready for the next fight in April,” said Flynn.
“Hopefully within the next week or so, that can be announced.
“I want to test myself and find a tougher opponent, each one has got to be harder and bring something different – they all bring something different to the table.
“It’s about getting as many fights in and getting as much experience.
“Hopefully I’ll have another five or six fights between now and the end of the year.”
Flynn was on a card headlined by Danny Dignum’s WBO European middleweight title defence and fought in front of a global audience, with ESPN+ broadcasting live in America and iFL TV showing the event worldwide.
Flynn said: “My family is always there – I get so much support from Oxford and so many travelled to London, and would have had to take the day off work.”
