OXFORD United Women fought the elements to move within three points of top spot in the National League Southern Premier.
Goals in each half from Beth Lumsden and Daisy McLachlan, either side of a Danielle Puddefoot strike, were enough to secure a 2-1 win at London Bees.
The victory extended United’s winning run in the league to seven games, pushing them to three points behind Ipswich Town, and with two games in hand.
Lumsden got the U’s off to a dream start, driving the ball home after just three minutes.
However, the lead lasted just 10 minutes when Puddefoot took advantage of United’s failure to clear a corner.

Despite creating chances to retake the lead in the first half, the U’s had to wait until just after the hour to go back in front, when McLachlan headed home from a corner.
Manager Liam Gilbert told the club website: “Credit to both teams, it was cold, there was rain, a strong wind and it was really hard work, but we got the job done and we are going really well at the minute.
“We lost in the League Cup last week and we asked for a reaction because we want to win every game.”
United travel to Hounslow on Wednesday, kick-off at 7.45pm.
