NATHAN Holland is relishing the chance to show he can do it on a cold Tuesday night in Accrington as Oxford United face a different test tonight.

The U’s are in the north west for the second successive Tuesday as they aim to go five games unbeaten in Sky Bet League One.

United travelled to former Premier League club Wigan Athletic last week and welcomed five-figure crowds against Sheffield Wednesday and Portsmouth recently, but tonight’s trip to Accrington Stanley (7.45pm) is a different proposition.

It will be Holland’s first experience of the 5,450-capacity Wham Stadium and the winger hopes to build on his match-winning strike against Pompey on Saturday.

He said: “I haven’t played there before, but it doesn’t matter if it’s a Tuesday night with a small crowd.

“We go there, concentrate on ourselves and put in a good performance.”

Holland scored twice in United’s 5-1 win over Accrington in September as he put a difficult start to the season behind him.

The 23-year-old said: “It was a good day for me, but it’s a different game and it will come with different challenges.

“I’ll be ready to give my all. I had a little hamstring issue and it’s been a bit stop-start sometimes.

“It’s not always easy to get into a flow, but when I’m on the pitch I just try to do my best.

“I just want to keep playing and get as many minutes as I can and keep helping the team.

“I came here to get promoted, so hopefully that’s what we can do.”

Holland’s 96th-minute strike against Pompey gave United a 3-2 win as they climbed to fifth in League One, thanks to a run of ten points from four games.

It was the West Ham United loanee’s sixth goal of the season, but his first since the U’s 3-1 victory over Fleetwood Town in November.

Holland started on the bench on Saturday and was delighted to make an impact after entering the fray ten minutes into the second half.

“I thought I need to get more shots off, because I know I have good shooting,” he said.

“Watching on the sidelines, you could tell how much it meant to both teams and the fans.

“To come on and get the winning goal was an amazing feeling, especially after it was looking like a defeat.

“We would have been happy with a draw that late on, so to come away with three points was really important.”
