KARL Robinson hopes Oxford United’s squad depth will come into its own at Accrington Stanley.

The U’s continue a busy run of fixtures tomorrow night in Lancashire, in what will be their fourth Sky Bet League One game in 11 days.

Robinson expects to make changes to the XI that started Saturday’s dramatic win over Portsmouth, although Sam Long may miss out again as he recovers from a calf issue.

With Gavin Whyte close to a return and players like Marcus Browne and James Henry recovering from injuries, United’s head coach has plenty of options.

He said: “We will make changes, tactically as well as personnel.

“The squad’s different as well, some people will be left at home.

“It has been a relentless two weeks, but brilliant – if you’re ever going to capture the imagination of what football encompasses we’ve shown it.”

Robinson added: “We have unbelievable players waiting in the wings and fantastic players left at home.

“You’re looking at some of the players you’re leaving behind, you look at the bench – we’re really gifted with a good squad.

“It’s just part and parcel of us growing as a football club.”

Henry was due to go for another scan on his calf today, having not played since the defeat at Wycombe Wanderers on January 15.

Meanwhile, Robinson expects Long to return against Bolton Wanderers this weekend.

The U’s boss said: “He’ll be back on Saturday. He could have (been back for Accrington) if we’d pushed it, but then you’re rolling a dice for one game rather than being calculated for the rest of the season.”
