CAMERON Brannagan has no trouble blocking out the rumours during a transfer window.
Oxford United rejected Blackpool’s significant six-figure bid for the midfielder last summer, having knocked back an approach from another Sky Bet Championship club in January.
After an excellent first half of the season, the 25-year-old is expected to attract similar interest this month.
It could be a distraction, but Brannagan – who brings up four years with the U’s next week – insists it is easy to ignore.
“My focus is to get promoted with this club, because I love this club and I care for it a lot,” he said.
“They gave me the opportunity to play first-team football when not many people were giving me that opportunity.
“I don’t really look at stuff and I don’t really care, to be honest.
“You get tweeted this and that, it’s just noise to me.
“People write all sorts everyday but half of it is a load of rubbish, to be honest.”
Brannagan has 18 months left on his contract, which includes a buyout clause.
United’s No 8 has played well over 150 games since arriving from Liverpool in January 2018, reaching the Sky Bet League One play-offs in the last two seasons.
OPINION: Keeping key players is more important than new signings
His side’s promotion chances have been boosted after the U’s paid to remove a recall clause in Herbie Kane’s season-long loan from Barnsley.
Brannagan came through Liverpool’s youth system with his fellow midfielder and was understandably thrilled.
He said: “You can see how much we gel as players.
“Me and Herbie have played together for quite a few years and we know each other like the backs of our hands.
“He knows how I work, I know how he works, we’re both aggressive and want to win. On the ball we try to be the best we can.
“We just need to keep that partnership going.”
