JAMIE Wakefield took boys singles gold in thrilling fashion at the Devon Under 15 tournament.
The Oxford teenager edged out the Isle of Man’s Martin Cheung 30-28 in the final to claim an excellent win.
West Oxfordshire’s Freddie Driver took bronze in the same category.
Wakefield and Cheung then combined their talents to claim boys doubles gold.
More Oxfordshire teenagers stepped up to the mark as they plugged the gaps filled by multiple absences.
The county’s Under 16s fielded two 13-year-olds against Hertfordshire 2nd, but still ran out 18-2 winners.
It was a similar story for the Under 14s, who faced Buckinghamshire at the National Badminton Centre in Milton Keynes.
In a pivotal mixed doubles, 10-year-old Grace Needell partnered Ethan Soanes to a 21-18 victory in the third end.
A spirited display saw Oxfordshire edge several other three-enders to triumph 12-8 in a hard-fought match.
Sophie Wang returned from the Suffolk Under 13 event with bronze medals in the girls singles and girls doubles, partnering Hertfordshire’s Georgia Yoxall in the latter.
She won another girls doubles bronze with Warwickshire’s Chloe Fan at the Swindon Under 13.
Gerry Ou, aged nine, produced a fine performance in a strong field to claim a bronze medal at the Warwick University Under 11.
