HERBIE Kane will remain an Oxford United player for the rest of the season, says Karl Robinson.
The U's head coach announced after tonight's 3-0 win over AFC Wimbledon that the Barnsley loanee is set to stay at the Kassam Stadium.
United have paid a fee to remove a break clause in the season-long deal, which would have enabled the Sky Bet Championship club to recall the influential midfielder.
“We agreed today with Barnsley to keep Herbie Kane for the rest of the season," Robinson said.
“There was a clause in his contract that he could be recalled in the first few days into January and the owners put up a fee to take that clause out, which is tremendous business.
“They’ve agreed it, it’s been sent back and forth. Herbie’s signed it today, he’s over the moon from that."
