Oxfordshire 2nd crashed 12-3 to Warwickshire 4th in their County Championship Division 3B clash at Coventry.

The visitors werre all square at 2-2 after the singles, Kathryn Schutterlin winning her first of the season 21-19, 21-14 and Phil Sayer, in his first outing for this team, coming through 21-18, 21-19.

After that everything fell apart, as Oxon's sole win came from Sayer and Simon Alexander in the battle of the second pairs 17-21, 21-19, 21-15.

Oxfordshire maintained their unbeaten record in Inter-County Over 60s team event with a winning draw against fellow unbeaten side Staffordshire at Headington School.

The hosts came from behind to draw 6-6, winning 14-13 in games and 517-513 in points.

Oxon halved the men's doubles, but won just one women's doubles when an unfortunate string break meant that Judy McCairns was left with the shuttle stuck in her racket rather than safely on the floor in the opponent's court.

Trailing 5-3 with the mixed matches to come, Oxon's Pete Falle and McCairns won, but Barry Stock and Sue Jelfs lost to make it 6-4.

Ian Jelfs and Dawn Torgersen came through 21-18, 22-20, before Charlie White and Andi Padbury kept everyone's nerves jangling by winning 22-20 in the deciding third game.

These two teams meet again in Staffordshire on Sunday.

Richard Fleet and Will Hartwell were unbeaten as Windrush A tore apart North Abingdon in Men's Division 1 of the Oxford & District League.

In Division 3, third pair Mick Safrette and Nick Sackett were unstoppable as Leys A overpowered Didcot Power Station B 7-2.

St Clement's beat Long Crendon 5-4 in Mixed Division 4, with top pairings Frances Down and Andy Bevan plus Alison Hillman with Stephen Hurt gaining the brace each.

The Women's Division 1 draw between Windrush A and North Abingdon at 3-3 left only Witney's Nicola Patrick undefeated.

oWantage moved to the top of Division 1 of the Wallingford and District Mixed League with a 5-4 defeat of North Abingdon.

The result hinged on the ninth rubber when Barry Jones and Wendy Barry posted a 22-20, 21-13 win over Philip Deer and Jo Sloley.

Wantage now are unbeaten after six matches with 18 points, two clear of Gosford Hill.
