OXFORD United’s training ground has been rebranded the Bangkok Glass Training Centre.
The U’s have announced a partnership with Bangkok Glass, which sees the Thai provider of glass and packaging become official sponsors at the training ground.
The partnership is designed to lead to an improvement in the facilities at the training ground, including to drainage, fencing and new pitches.
United managing director Niall McWilliams said: “It’s genuinely exciting for us to be working alongside a global business who have great connections with a number of sports and businesses both in the UK and around the world.
“The training ground is not just the home of our first team. The academy is based there, the women’s team train there, and in the evenings and at weekends, the facility is home to many community sports clubs.
“It’s something that is already providing a great facility for the city of Oxford, and I think Bangkok Glass understands the values we have: a growing football club with great links to local businesses, a club that is determined to continue to be at the heart of our community.
“We will work together with the city council to expand and make this facility an even greater resource for everyone associated with the club and Oxford.”
Chairman Sumrith ‘Tiger’ Thanakarnjanasuth added: “This is great news for the football club. We have strong links with Thailand and now we welcome another huge name in Bangkok Glass.
“They are our first official partners at the training ground and once again it shows the progress we are making commercially around the whole world as well as closer to home.”
Bangkok Glass was founded in 1974 and is an official partner of BG Pathum United in Thailand.
The club was founded in 1979 by a group of employees forming a football team to compete in an amateur league.
In 2006, the club became a member of the Football Association of Thailand, and eight years later, won the Thaicom FA Cup.
Last season, the team won the Toyota Thai League and the Daikin Thailand Champions Cup.
