ONLY big signings and important wins can match the level of excitement that greeted Anindya Bakrie’s interview earlier this week.

The Oxford United director did not say much we did not know already, but anything relating to the stadium is always going to get tongues wagging.

There are still countless hurdles to overcome before the U’s are playing in a new ground, but to hear Bakrie speak openly about the issue is promising.

When news of a potential ownership change at United emerged back in March, it was impossible for these investors to be a visible presence as we were still in lockdown.

Since restrictions have eased, Bakrie and fellow director Horst Geicke have attended several matches between them.

They spent plenty of time by the tunnel before Saturday’s game against Morecambe, knowing there would be interested eyes looking their way.

Bakrie has now spoken to local media twice and hopefully there will be many more interviews.

United’s investors are busy people with busy lives, but it is important fans see and hear from them as regularly as possible.
