OXFORD Harlequins Women made history as they played their first league game.
The Oxfordshire side (above) lost 39-0 at Drybrook Ladies, having launched a women’s and girls section last year.
It was nevertheless a milestone weekend for the club, who are the county’s only team competing in NC1 South West (East) – the fourth tier of the pyramid.
Chinnor Kites, Banbury Belles and Witney Angels all play in NC2 South West (North).
Quins women are led by former top-division player Pet Metcalfe-Jones (far right) and she is assisted by Charlotte Barras, who scored England’s try when they were edged out by New Zealand in the 2010 Rugby World Cup final.
They host Reading Ladies at Horspath Sports Ground on Saturday.
