FOUR Oxford United players trained today as they eye a return to first-team action.
Cameron Brannagan was involved at Oxford Sports Park after missing Saturday's defeat at Cheltenham Town with a non-footballing injury.
Elliott Moore and Sam Winnall also trained, having been unavailable for United's previous two games with back and hip injuries respectively.
There was also a welcome return for Marcus McGuane, who has not played since August 24 due to a thigh problem.
United host Gillingham in Sky Bet League One on Saturday and head coach Karl Robinson hopes the quartet could all be available.
He told the club's official website: “First of all it was good to have the four players back.
"It was a very intense session and they did well so we’ll just keep an eye on them tomorrow, but hopefully they will be in contention."
It leaves Jamie Hanson as the only one of United's 24 senior players still in the treatment room.
The 25-year-old dislocated his shoulder during an in-house game in July, although he had some good news today.
Robinson added: “Jamie has had so much bad luck with injuries but he has gone to see a specialist today, who gave him the green light to return to contact training after his shoulder injury.
"He has been working hard already and is ahead of schedule.
"His core fitness is good and with a bit of luck he should get up to speed fairly quickly.”
