Oxford United beat North Leigh in memorial friendly for Lloyd Calcutt

The U’s flew into an early lead inside just two minutes when Enrique Tiamuna struck a fierce shot from the edge of the box.

United continued to assert their dominance, keeping the home side penned in their own half.

The Yellows had a series of attempts in the opening exchanges with Adam Smith particularly dangerous.

Smith had a shot from the edge of the box well held by the goalkeeper on nine minutes, before finding the net three minutes later.

A quick, fluid move from the U’s was finished off by Smith with a tidy finish from inside the box.

10 minutes later, Smith had the chance to make it three but his shot from just inside the box flew over the bar.

Just after the half hour mark, Tyler Goodrham saw a shot superbly tipped round for a corner.

North Leigh looked most threatening on the right wing, with a well-worked move resulting in a header from Lance Williams flying over the bar.

North Leigh came out strong in the second half with an early penalty tucked away down the middle on the goal on 48 minutes.

United hit back with Will Owens forcing a save from the home keeper, with Adam Learoyd seeing a header saved at the other end.

With 63 minutes on the clock, Josh Anifowose saw an effort pushed round for a corner, and four minutes later second-half substitute Gatlin O’Donkor burst through the centre of the pitch and slotted home, however was flagged offside.

With 15 minutes to go, the U’s made 10 substitutes as they saw out the game.

O’Donkor added a third to seal the match.
