JORDANNE Whiley is one win from her first Wimbledon singles final after opening her tournament with a convincing win.
The 12-time Grand Slam winner, who lives in Steventon, beat Aniek van Koot 6-2, 6-0 in the wheelchair singles quarter-finals at the All England Club.
Next up for Whiley is van Koot’s doubles partner, No 1 seed Diede de Groot.
The 29-year-old will also team up with Yui Kamiji for the wheelchair doubles semi-final, against Angelica Bernal and Momoko Ohtani.
There was more Oxfordshire success in the girls’ singles, where Matilda Mutavdzic reached the third round with a 7-5, 6-7, 6-1 victory over Darja Vidmanova.
She plays Nastasja Schunk this evening.
