JORDANNE Whiley is out of the women’s wheelchair singles at the French Open after losing to her tennis partner, Yui Kamiji.
Whiley, who lives in Steventon, lost the quarter final encounter 2-6, 1-6 to the second seed Kamiji.
The 12-time Grand Slam winner lost the tie in 57 minutes on court 12.
Whiley and Kamiji had last met on the clay in the final of the Open International des Hauts-de-France last week.
Whiley fought back to take Kamiji to a third set in Le Touquet but lost that encounter too.

However, the duo were doubles champions at the same tournament.
Together the pair have won 11 Grand Slam titles – four Wimbledon titles, three Australian Opens, two French Opens and two US Opens – including a calendar Grand Slam in 2014.
That achievement seven years ago saw Whiley become the first British player to complete a calendar year Grand Slam.
Whiley and Kamiji will now prepare for the semi-finals of the women’s wheelchair doubles against Angelica Bernal and Emmanuelle Morch.

With two bronze medals at the Paralympics to her name, Whiley will be seeking a gold medal in Tokyo this year.
She won two bronze medals at the women’s wheelchair doubles tournament at London 2012 and Rio 2016.
Whiley and Kamiji’s most recent title was the US Open in September last year.
Whiley won a Wimbledon doubles title whilst pregnant in 2017.
