Joe Flower struck the pick of the goals as Benson AFC moved to within two points of the North Berls League Division 2 leaders Coleshill Res with a 3-1 win at East Hendred on Saturday.

Benson went ahead two minutes before half-time when David Polley was tripped, and Damian Rigozzi calmly shot low into the right corner from the penalty spot .

In the second half, two goals in as many minutes killed off Hendred's hopes.

Andy Wright beat the offside trap on the hour and knocked the ball past the keeper, then won the race with a defender to smash it into the net.

Then, a cross from the right was fired in with some venom by Flower to make it 3-0.

Hendred pulled a goal back from the penalty spot in the 82nd minute through Tyrone McGill after the referee spotted a push.

Lambourn Sports came from behind to win 2-1 against Wootton & Dry Sandford, despite being reduced to ten players after Chris Prior was sent off.

Wootton led by a Tom Srawley goal at half-time, but Lambourn equalised through a scrambled effort from Derek Hillier early in the second half.

Prior then went for an early soak following a stamping offence, but Lambourn's Matthew Pedder scored after slipping his marker to score the decisive goal.
