Abingdon United's assistant manager Mark O'Hara lashed his players after they went down to a 4-0 derby defeat against Didcot.
O'Hara, who is in charge of the team while boss Andy Slater is on holiday in Australia, read the players the riot act after the drubbing.
"There was no passion from them, which, for a local derby, is not good enough," said O'Hara, whose side visit second-placed Oxford City on New Year's Day.
"They just wanted it more than us. I had plenty of words with them after the game. They told me there was a lack of confidence.
"But if you went round the dressing room and asked them they would all tell you they were good players.
"If we play the same against City then we're going to get turned over again."
