Conference North promotion-chasers Kettering are keen to take Oxford United striker Rob Duffy (pictured) on a month's loan.
The Northants club, which in the past had strong links with United - Ron Atkinson famously moved there after his time at Oxford - already have former U's defender John Dempster.
And they are reported to be chasing Welsh striker Duffy, who has only recently returned from a broken arm, to bolster their promotion bid after striker Steve Burton's move to Harrogate Town last month.
Kettering boss Mark Cooper knows Duffy from their time together at one of their previous clubs, Rushden & Diamonds.
United were unavailable to comment.
Meanwhile, Chris Willmott is continuing his knee strengthening programme, but seems certain to miss the next fortnight.
