I recently received an email from Sean Long, who lives in Bicester and has fished this area for years, writes ANDY WEBBER.
He told me that he thought one of the main reasons why our rivers are in a decline is the number of crayfish found in our waters.
I agree with him that they have had an effect on our fishing, but on the other hand, they have also become another food source and are one of the reasons why some of our species are getting bigger.
Long also asks what the Environment Agency are doing about the problem.
I could not find a single mention of crayfish on their website.
- May I wish everyone who has been in touch with me this year a very happy Christmas and a better 2008 than this year.
