Retired TV commentator John Hanmer, from East Challow, was on hand to see his Candarli take the confined race at the Farmers Bloodhounds Hunt point-to-point meeting at Dunthrop, near Chipping Norton.
Hanmer owns the 11-year-old with Malmesbury handler Chris Smyth, who used to ride out for David Gandolfo - the former trainer of Candarli - before his move to Somerset.
To complete the happy connections, Gandolfo was also present as Chloe Boxall conjured up a renewed challenge from Candarli to win by five lengths. The combination were following up their win at the Black Forest Club meeting two weeks ago.
Candarli's success is helping make up for the loss of Irish point-to-point winner My Vic - a son of Old Vic - whom Hanmer had high hopes for.
"He broke his shoulder in the field, so Chris and I bought this horse in September as a consolation," he said
