Didcot Town's BGB Southern League Division 1 South & West clash with Burnham was abandoned after less than three minutes play at Loop Meadow.
The abandonment came after a seemingly innocuous challenge between Didcot's Matt Bicknell and Burnham's Miles Norman in the centre circle.
Norman initially looked to get up, but collapsed on the pitch just seconds later with a serious injury to his lower right leg.
An ambulance was called and Norman was taken to hospital.
With the Burnham players clearly shaken up by Norman's plight, referee Simon Snartt abandoned game - a move which Didcot had no complaints about.
Didcot will look to re-arrange the fixture in the New Year.
