Chinnor came from behind to draw 25-25 at Maidenhead in a South West 1 game they should have won.
It took a last-minute try from wing Jaike Carter to level the scores, but fly half James Cathcart missed the conversion.
Earlier, Chinnor had squandered chance after chance as they lacked the fluency shown in the previous week's 77-0 defeat of St Ives.
They took Maidenhead on up front too frequently when they should have tired the heavier home forwards by running them across the park as often as possible.
Chinnor were forced to make a late change when the influential Ben Hewitt had to withdraw with a calf injury.
Martyn O'Mahony went to full back and Jaike Carter came in on the wing.
Maidenhead took the lead on 15 minutes when centre Warren Abrahams seized on a loose ball to run 50 metres to score and convert.
Chinnor had already gone close on several occasions, but Maidenhead went further ahead with another Abrahams try.
A Cathcart penalty reduced the arrears and when he converted Carter's try wide out, Chinnor were back in the hunt.
An Abrahams penalty on the stroke of half-time put Maidenhead 15-10 up.
Pip Seymour, who was causing problems every time he had the ball, got Chinnor off to a flying start to the second half, finishing off a good move to score in the corner.
The scores were not level for too long as Abrahams kicked his second penalty and then scored his third try which he also converted.
Chinnor showed plenty of character to get back on level terms with tries from Seymour and Carter.
But they now trail leaders Bracknell by a point and lost centre Trevor Powell to a shoulder injury.
